Browns Training Camp Begins At End Of Week As Team Works On New-Look Offense

The Cleveland Browns are set to begin full training camp on Saturday, July 28. They're hoping to get a jump-start on their new look offense, likely featuring rookies Trent Richardson and Brandon Weeden.

If there's one thing that fans of the Cleveland Browns can count on, it's that the team won't be looking the same in 2012 as it did a season ago. While some think the team out-performed expectations in 2011, it was mainly due to a surprisingly strong defense that was stingy with yardage and even stingier with touchdowns. But the offense, led by Colt McCoy and ... not much else, continuously fell behind.

Now, the Browns have done all they can to make sure their offense is better next season, with a new look from the ground up. Replace McCoy with Brandon Weeden and Hillis with fellow first-round draftee Trent Richardson. There's still a chance that Weeden isn't going to be the guy and McCoy could start, but it's seen as a long shot at this point.

The Browns feel that they've added a foundation for a strong offense, and if the defense can play as well as they did a season ago, then there should be plenty of excitement. Providing the team can get Richardson and Weeden inked to actual contracts, then training camp should be a very revealing time for the Browns. Richardson will get a chance to show his stuff, some young receivers will try and make their mark, and McCoy will battle it out with Weeden for the starting role.

Officially, training camp gets started on July 28 for the Browns, but there are a couple of practices prior. There's open-to-the-media practices on Wednesday, July 25 and Friday, July 27, in which rookies, quarterbacks and select veterans will take part. Below, we've got the full schedule for training camp (where all players must report), and you can also find it here on the official website.
