Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden was removed from practice Wednesday by head coach Pat Shurmur for excessive roughness on 7-on-7 drills. According to various reports from practice, Haden took down wide receiver Travis Benjamin, drawing the ire of Shurmur.
Shurmur stressed importance of practicing smart & being safe. Haden had takedown of Travis Benjamin in 7-on-7. Did not look intentional.

Shurmur apologized after practice for directing foul language at Haden while in the earshot of fans and other onlookers. Haden was reportedly followed into Cleveland's practice facility by team president Mike Holmgren, though Holmgren did not speak about the incident with reporters after practice.
