Carlton Mitchell, 8 Others Waived By Browns As Roster Trimmed To 80

With the regular season nearing, the Cleveland Browns have cut nine players from their roster on Sunday, as the team announced. Third-year wide receiver Carlton Mitchell is among the names being let go, confirming the rumors that Cleveland was releasing him.

By Monday afternoon, the Browns must be down to 75 players on their roster. Just a few days later on Friday night, the roster must be pared to the official regular season roster size of 53. With that in mind, the team is already well into the process of figuring out which players are worth keeping.

Other than Mitchell, the Browns also released linebacker JoJo Dickson, defensive back Emmanuel Davis, punter Spencer Lanning, offensive lineman Jake Anderson and Matt Cleveland, and wide receivers Bert Reed, Jermaine Saffold and Owen Spencer.
