The Cleveland Browns waived injured defensive ends Marcus Benard and Auston English, as well as defensive back Antwuan Reed, on Monday, according to Ohio.com's Nate Ulrich. In addition, the Browns placed linebackers Emmanuel Acho and Chris Gocong on injured reserve, and added defensive tackle Phil Taylor to the physically unable to perform list.
Benard, 27, led the team in sacks with 7.5 during the 2010 season, but played in just four games in 2011 before being involved in a motorcycle crash. He was able to recover in time for the spring offseason workout program and had been on the field throughout the summer before dislocating his elbow in Friday's 27-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
English, meanwhile, had been fully-entrenched in practices before being held out on Monday due to an undisclosed injury. Reed, who rounds out the list of waived players, suffered a leg injury in practice on Aug. 20, and hasn't been on the field since.
