Browns Awarded Defensive Lineman Ernest Owusu Off Waivers

The Cleveland Browns picked up defensive lineman Ernest Owusu off waivers from the Minnesota Vikings, reports Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Owusu, 24, was signed by the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of California on May 1, 2012. Owusu appeared in all 13 games for the Golden Bears in 2011, recording 30 tackles, 7.5 tackles for a loss and 4.5 sacks. Over the course of his college career, Owusu played in 42 games, 18 of which were starts.

The Browns added Owusu to their active roster on Monday, which is now down to the NFL-mandated 75 players following several cuts made before the 4 p.m. ET deadline. Of those cuts, two included injured defensive linemen, while defensive tackle Phil Taylor was placed on the physically unable to perform list.
