Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden was able to crack a joke about his poor Week 1 performance against the Philadelphia Eagles. In talking about his upcoming game with the Cincinnati Bengals, Weeden told Tony Grossi:
"It can't be any worse than it was the first week and I mean that jokingly. We're all going to have rough stretches. I think obviously mine was the first week. I look at the mistakes I made, and you guys saw them. Guys were wide open and I missed them. That's not my character. That's not the way I usually throw the football."
Weeden may have been joking, but it's not that far from the truth. In his first NFL start, Weeden posted a 5.2 passer rating, going 12-35 for 118 yards with four interceptions. The Bengals had a strong passing defense last season, but allowed 308 yards passing to Joe Flacco and the Ravens in their Week 1 loss.
