Browns Depth Chart: Sheldon Brown Likely To Take Reduced Role As Nickel Corner

The Cleveland Browns have been trying to make the best of a bad situation during cornerback Joe Haden's suspension, and in Week 3 the team plans on shuffling the deck in the secondary and moving veteran cornerback Sheldon Brown to the nickel package. Brown told Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland that he is no longer a part of the starting unit, admitting "I just come in in the nickel package," but that doesn't mean the veteran CB is bitter about the shift:

"I mean, it really doesn't matter," he said. "I told you from Day 1 I'm a team guy. Whatever they want to do I'm going to roll with it...Look, I've been with Tom (Heckert, GM) for a long time. Tom drafted me (59th overall, second round, in 2002). I have a lot of respect for his decision-making. So I'm not going to say it's my streak that's more important than your decision making."

"I understand that this team is, obviously, a young team and players need to play. I'm OK with that. I understand that. And I'm rooting for the guys that are playing."

Brown extended his streak of consecutive games played to 162 when he lined up for one snap in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Browns (0-2) host the Buffalo Bills (1-1) on Sunday.
