Browns Depth Chart: Buster Skrine Gets The Call With Sheldon Brown Demoted To Nickel

The Cleveland Browns have a bit of a problem in their defensive secondary as Joe Haden is still serving part of his four-game suspension and former starting cornerback Sheldon Brown has been demoted to nickel cornerback.

The Brown and Haden situations have opened up an opportunity for Buster Skrine, though, and the young defensive back is ready to take advantage of it. Defensive coordinator Dick Jauron doesn't sound quite as sure that he's ready for this, but it seems as though he likes his potential.

"Buster is a work in progress," defensive coordinator Dick Jauron said Thursday. "He hasn't played a lot of football. I really like him. He's a very competitive, very tough guy. He learned a good deal in that game that will help him in the long run. It was painful for him and us to some degree. He also made some plays in that game but gave up some."

Skrine will be asked to match up with Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson this weekend -- a difficult task as he attempts to get acclimated with his new starting role.
