The Cleveland Cavaliers lost their 18th straight game tonight to the Boston Celtics. It was the 22nd-straight road loss for the Wine and Gold breaking a team record. So, the next question has to be, what is the team record for most consecutive losses? That, my friends, is 24 games. So, can this bunch threaten that record as well? In a word, yes they can. In fact, they could obliterate that record.
A look at the next 11 games on the Cavaliers' schedule - which takes us to the All-Star Break - shows the losing streak could go on, and on, for the foreseeable future:
1/28 - Vs. Denver Nuggets
1/30 - @ Orlando Magic
1/31 - @ Miami Heat
2/2 - Vs. Indiana Pacers
2/4 - @ Memphis Grizzlies
2/5 - Vs. Portland Trail Blazers
2/7 - @ Dallas Mavericks
2/9 - Vs. Detroit Pistons
2/11 - Vs. Los Angeles Clippers
2/13 - Vs. Washington Wizards
2/16 - Vs. Los Angeles Lakers
Do you see any games on that list you'd feel comfortable about? Personally, I'd look at the Detroit game, followed by the home game against Washington as likely soft-landings for the Cavaliers. If not then, when?
