The Cavaliers’ chances at ending their 26-game losing streak got a huge boost when the team announced surprisingly that Mo Williams will return from his hip injury and get some run against the Clippers tonight at The Q.
According to Martin Rickman of Fear The Sword, this is good news for the Cavs:
The Cavs have been dangerously thin since Williams went down, and they need the low-post help from Powe and the shooting and dribble-drives from Mo. This takes some of the pressure off of Ramon Sessions, who has been playing out of his mind lately, but has also had to log a ton of minutes.
The rotation will shore up a bit, as Sessions, Mo and Daniel Gibson will primarily rotate at the guard positions. Unless Byron Scott has suddenly had a change of heart, that will cut into Manny Harris’s minutes, and I guess we’ll keep seeing Jamario Moon and Anthony Parker at SF.
Rickman also points out that the return of Williams, along with F/C Leon Powe, comes at a good time in terms of using either in a possible trade with the deadline looming less than two weeks away.
