The Cavaliers sustained another loss tonight in their 95-91 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Leading scorer Antawn Jamison broke the little finger on his left hand during the second half and was unable to return. Jamison’s status is unknown right now, but just as the Cavaliers were about to infuse the team with new talent, Jamison is gone. He left after scoring 16 points in 30 minutes against the Sixers.
The Cavaliers still battled until the end, cutting a 12 point deficit at the end of the 3rd Quarter to just 3 with three minutes to go before the Sixers were able to close the game out. J.J. Hickson was strong again, scoring 22 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. Ramon Sessions added 20 points and 10 assists.
None of the Cavaliers newcomers played against the Sixers meaning the Cavs had to go deep to their bench, especially after Jamison went down. Samardo Samuels 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 23 minutes.
It was a tough night for Daniel Gibson who scored 9 points on 3-12 from the floor in 33 minutes. Only Anthony Parker – whom the Cavaliers were unable to move during last week’s trade deadline, was worse, scoring just 2 points on 1-8 shooting in 36 minutes.
The Sixers had plenty of balanced scoring in winning their season-high 4th straight game. Elton Brand led all Philly scorers with 16 points while Jodie Meeks added 14 points. Jrue Holiday had 13 points, Thaddeua Young 12 points and former Ohio State Buckeyes star Evan Turner added 10 points for the Sixers who, at 30-29, are above .500 for the first time all seaosn.
