Cavaliers Vs. Nets Score Update: New Jersey Takes 49-43 Lead To Half

The Cleveland Cavaliers lead the New Jersey Nets 49-43 at halftime after two quarters of tightly contested basketball. The Nets' six-point lead is the largest advantage either team has held so far, thanks to a 6-0 run to close the half.

New Jersey closed the half with a strong 6-0 run in the last two minutes thanks to three free throws by Deron Williams and a three-pointer by Sundiata Gaines.

Cleveland's rookie point guard Kyrie Irving is facing one of the NBA's best point guards in Williams and so far holding his own but not winning the matchup. Irving has 7 points, 2 assists and 3 turnovers so far, while Williams directed the strong close to the half, finishing with 12 points, 2 assists, 3 steals and 3 turnovers.

Rookie forward Tristan Thompson put the Cavs up 32-27 after dunking a feed from Ramon Sessions, but the Nets quickly erased that deficit. The Cavs got a boost off the bench from Daniel Gibson who made a pair of three-pointers and scored 8 points in the first half.
