Cavaliers Vs. Celtics: Irving Looks To Continue Tear Against Boston

Coming off Sunday’s dramatic, one-point victory, the Cavs are gunning for back-to-back wins against the Celtics.

Cleveland ended Sunday’s contest on a 12-0 run, capped by Kyrie Irving’s game-winning lay-up with 2.6 seconds remaining. Irving was a spectacular 10 of 14 from the field with six assists and four rebounds. When asked about his performance on Monday, Irving declined to gloat. According to Cleveland.com, Irving said,

"It was just a shot. It's behind me now. It was a good shot. It was a great team win for us."

Asked what he could do for an encore in Tuesday night's rematch at The Q, Irving smiled and said, "An encore? There is no encore for me. It's just another game and another chance for us to get better against a good Boston team."

Irving's brilliance is becoming old hat for the rookie: Over Cleveland’s last four games, Irving is 30 of 52 from the floor, and dropped a career-high 32 points against the Nets on Friday.

Irving continues to lead all rookies with 17.9 points per game, more than three PPG than second-place MarShon Brooks.

The last time the Cavs won back-to-back games was when they downed the Nets and Bobcats on Jan. 1 and Jan. 3. They were 1-5 over their previous six games before Sunday’s thriller against the Celtics.

The Cavs could pull even with Boston at 9-11 with a win Tuesday.

In other news: Cavs guard Daniel Gibson remained hospitalized Sunday because of an infection in his neck. He will not play Tuesday.

Neither will fellow guard Anthony Park, who has been hampered of late with a sore back.
