The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Chicago Bulls 86-83 on Friday night, but most eyes were focused on the play of No. 4 overall pick Dion Waiters. Waiters did not disappoint, scoring 18 points on 7-12 shooting, including 4-for-4 from three-point range. Waiters added three assists, though he did turn the ball over four times and only grabbed one rebound in 27 minutes.
The night didn't go as swimmingly for reigning Rookie of the Year Kyrie Irving, who shot 2-for-15 from the field and scored only 8 points in 26 minutes. Irving also failed to record an assist and turned the ball over twice. Fellow first-round pick Tyler Zeller scored 10 points on 3-for-4 shooting in 26 minutes, grabbing four rebounds and three assists. Anderson Varejao, who is working his way back from last year's season-ending wrist injury, played 25 minutes, snatching 10 boards and scoring eight points.
The Cavs will be back home on Saturday, when they host the Washington Wizards.
