Cavaliers vs. 76ers recap: Philadelphia routs Cleveland, 113-99

Kyrie Irving was stellar in the loss, but Dion Waiters and other struggled.

David Richard-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Cleveland Cavaliers dropped their third preseason game of the 2012-2013 season in a 113-99 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night. Kyrie Irving shined for the Cavs -- scoring 23 points -- but his teammates struggled, especially on the defensive end.

First round pick Dion Waiters was just 2-9 from the field, including 0-5 from three. He scored five points and picked up three rebounds and three assists. C.J. Miles, who has been impressive so far this preseason, was just 5-15 from the field, scoring 10 points. Tristan Thompson put up 10 points and 10 rebounds, but he was just 4-10 from the field. As a team, the Cavs shot only 42% on the night and were 7-22 from three point range.

Their saving grace -- and something that could bode well for them in the regular season, provided they keep it up -- was that they got to the free throw line 31 times, making 22 of those attempts. The 76ers, meanwhile, only even attempted 21 free throws. Andrew Bynum, who is still dealing with knee issues, did not play for Philadelphia.

Cleveland will be off until Tuesday, when they'll host the Indiana Pacers.
