Kyrie Irving injury update: Cavs point guard cleared for opener vs. Wizards

Kyrie Irving has been cleared for the season opener against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will get the 2012-13 NBA season underway on Tuesday, with a game against the Washington Wizards. According to this Tweet, they'll have their star player in Kyrie Irving available, as he's been cleared to play following an extraction of four wisdom teeth last Wednesday.

Of course, Irving's status wasn't really in question in the past few days, but he was only recently officially cleared to play, so it's definitely a good sign to see. Getting wisdom teeth removed can be a debilitating experience, but enough time has passed to the point where he should be relatively pain-free while playing, especially with the adrenaline.

Irving is expected to be the top offensive option for the Cavaliers this season. They're a very young team, with 10 players with two years or less experience in the NBA, and Irving is in the same boat. He needs to be healthy and 100 percent up to the task to lead the team.
