Daniel Gibson Trade Rumors: Cavs Guard Has Come Up In Trade Talks, According To Report

The Cleveland Cavaliers made waves during the 2012 NBA Draft when they selected Syracuse guard Dion Waiters with the No. 4 overall pick, and that move probably put Daniel Gibson on notice that he could be dealt at any moment now that Waiters and Kyrie Irving look like the backcourt of the future.

In fact, Steve Kyler of Hoops World recently laid out a list of NBA players who could be moved before the Feb. 21 trade deadline, and one of the names that popped up was none other than Daniel Gibson:

The Cavs deny that they are "shopping" Daniel Gibson, but more than a few team sources say their club has had some level of contact regarding Gibson throughout the summer. With draft pick Dion Waiters expected to join super sophomore Kyrie Irving in the Cavs backcourt there may not be much of a role for Gibson and several teams have tried to engage Cleveland on a deal. As things settle in and the rookies in Cleveland find their way Gibson and his ending contract are likely on the move.

Gibson is owed $4.7 million this season which is a fairly easy number cap wise and if the Cavs can extract a draft pick or a roster part they want, you can expect Gibson will be moved.

Gibson is 26 years old and is coming off a season where he played in 35 games and posted 7.5 points per game on a career-low 35.1 percent shooting from the field. His primary asset is his three-point shooting accuracy, which is highlighted by his 41.6 percent career mark from long range over 1,256 NBA attempts.
