Kevin Jones Will Sign With Cavs On Monday, According To Report

The Cavs have come to an agreement with power forward Kevin Jones.

Jim McIsaac

Undrafted free agent Kevin Jones has signed a partially guaranteed deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to Jorge Sierra of Hoops Hype. The terms of the deal between the Cavs and the ex-West Virginia Mountaineers star have not yet been made public.

Jones was on Cleveland's Summer League team but was not able to play due to a foot injury. In his senior season last year with West Virginia, he averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds a game, but it's not certain that he will make Cleveland's roster coming out of camp. Conrad Kaczmarek of Fear the Sword explains:

For now, I would assume that this contract does not mean that Kevin Jones will necessarily be on the Opening Night roster. Samardo Samuels and Jon Leuer also have contracts with the Cavaliers and play the same position as Jones. My guess is that two of those three guys makes the team.

Kaczmarek notes that Jones is strictly a power forward, and despite being undersized likely won't be able to play small forward in the NBA.
