The Cleveland Cavaliers will begin the new year coming off a dispiriting December in which they won just three of 18 games. It was a month rocked by injuries to all of the Cavs' best players, but the team has looked better of late as it gets healthy -- the Cavs ended the year with single-digit losses to Brooklyn and Atlanta after defeating Milwaukee and Washington in the two games prior.
Moral victories don't show up in the standings, though, and the Cavs were hoping to take a big step forward in the 2012-2013 season. They can get back on that track on Wednesday night during a visit from the Sacramento Kings, who are coming off a road loss to Detroit after defeating Boston and New York in back-to-back contests.
For the Cavs, the key to victory will be putting the clamps on Kings' big man Demarcus Cousins, who figures to be licking his chops as he eyes a Cleveland frontline that is still without All-Star candidate Anderson Varejao. Wednesday's game tips at 7 p.m. ET on FSN Ohio.
