The Cleveland Cavaliers will have to continue waiting for Anderson Varejao, who will not make the trip to Charlotte on Friday to take on the Bobcats. Guard Daniel Gibson will also miss the game and not travel to Charlotte.
Friday will mark the eighth straight game Varejao has missed with a bruised right knee he suffered on Dec. 18. Varejao leads the NBA with 14.4 rebounds per game and also averages 14.1 points, 3.4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
Gibson will miss his third straight game on Friday, after suffering a concussion against the Atlanta Hawks on Dec. 28. Gibson has yet to pass the league's concussion protocol and will be sidelined until he can do so. He averages 7.3 points while shooting 39.2% from beyond the arc and also adds an additional 2.0 assists per game.
The Cavaliers (7-26) are two games behind the Bobcats (8-23) in the Eastern Conference. The two have the second- and fourth-worst records in the league, respectively.
