Former Florida Marlins Manager Edwin Rodriguez Now Class A Skipper

The Cleveland Indians have hired Edwin Rodriguez to manage the Carolina Mudcats, a Class A team in the Carolina League for the 2012 season. What makes Rodriguez such an interesting hire is the experience he brings to the job - Rogriguez was the manager of the Florida Marlins from June 23, 2010 until June 18, 2011, where he finished with a 78-85 record.

Rodriguez was the first Puerto Rican to manage in the Majors when he was hired by the Marlins to replace Fredi Gonzalez. Rodriguez was given the job full-time on June 29, 2010 and the Marlins started off strong in 2011, jumping out to a 31-22 record on June 1 before enduring a 1-18 slide that led to his resignation.

The Marlins hired former Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen to lead the club into their new stadium in 2012.
