Pitchers and catchers report to Goodyear, Ariz., for Spring Training 2011 in just seven days, though looking out the window it is hard to believe baseball is right around the corner. While the Indians haven't made any real moves, they did get some good news on one of the uber-talented young players they do have, catcher Carlos Santana.
Santana received good news in his check-up as he continues to recover from a nasty knee injury suffered Aug. 2, 2010 when he was trying to block the plate against the Boston Red Sox. According to Tom Withers of the Associated Press, Santana can "immediately take batting practice and catch. He can begin baserunning drills next week."
It is expected that Santana will be a key contributor for the Indians this season, with manager Manny Acta likely batting Santana 3rd or 4th in the lineup.
