After a veritable outburst of runs in their previous two games, the Indians’ bats went to sleep again today, and the Cincinnati Reds benefited to the tune of a 5- victory.
Fausto Carmona was the starter and loser for the Tribe, but in the six innings he worked, Carmona surrendered only two runs, striking out five while allowing six hits. The bullpen wasn’t much “relief”, giving up three more runs in two innings as Cleveland dropped to 7-10 in the Cactus League while Cincinnati improved to 11-8.
The Indians did manage eight hits, but the only RBI was from Lou Marson, and the Tribe stranded nine runners.
Tomorrow Cleveland plays two split-squad games, one against Kansas City and the other against Texas, with the Royals’ game scheduled for 4:05 and the Rangers’ contest under the lights at 10:05.
