Jeanmar Gomez Gets The Start In First Of Day-Night Split-Squad Games

The Indians will be hither and yon today in Arizona, as they take on the Kansas City Royals at 4:05 and then face the Texas Rangers at 10:05 tonight, in a spring training game which will no doubt last into Saturday.

I wonder how many people in Cleveland will stay awake until the nightcap is over?

Be that as it may, Jeanmar Gomez gets the call in the matinee against the Royals, who are an impressive 13-6 thus far on the spring. Although Kansas City’s lineup is not yet available, the Tribe’s is, and here are the starters in the afternoon (you will notice that Lonnie Chisenhall is playing and you might be thinking “huh? Thought he was sent down?”. Well it is spring, and these lineup oddities happen when two games are being played in the same day.):

1) Ezequiel Carrera (L) CF
2) Lonnie Chisenhall (L) 3B
3) Carlos Santana (S) DH
4) Travis Buck (L) RF
5) Shelley Duncan® LF
6) Jayson Nix® 2B
7) Jordan Brown (L) 1B
8) Luke Carlin (S) C
9) Adam Everett® SS

Neither team’s lineup is ready as of yet for the game in the wee hours between the Indians and the defending American League Champion Rangers, but what I can tell you is that Texas sits at 9-10 in the Cactus League.

One would think that there is probably no panic over said record in Arlington, Texas.
