Tribe Loses To Oakland 4-3, But Reportedly Pulls Trigger On Laffey Trade

The Indians fell to 2-2 in the exhibition season today, losing to the Oakland A’s 3-2, on the day that a report broke that the Tribe has traded veteran Aaron Laffey to the Seattle Mariners, in a deal the details of which are still forthcoming.

Three separate players drove in a run for Cleveland, but it was not quite enough. After Oakland scored two in the first off of Justin Masterson, the Tribe tied it with two of their own in the fourth, only to see the A’s score in the bottom half of the frame off of Doug Mathis (0-1), who took the loss in the game played in Phoenix.

Seven Indians’ pitchers combined to surrender six hits. Cleveland will next take on the American League champion Texas Rangers tomorrow afternoon at the Rangers’ facility as the Tribe tries to nose back above .500 in Cactus League play.
