The Indians showed spunk today, when, after falling behind Texas 8-2 after six innings, a seven-run outburst in the seventh frame gave Cleveland the lead.
That lead lasted until the bottom of the ninth inning, when a three-run Rangers rally, capped by a walk-off, two-run home run by Chris Davis, gave a split Texas squad an 11-9 victory, dropping the Tribe to 2-3 in Cactus League play.
Josh Judy took the loss for Cleveland, retiring only one batter in the final inning. Judy was the sixth Tribe pitcher of the afternoon, in a game started by Mitch Talbot. Of the six, only Justin Germano and Tony Sipp escaped unscathed, both going one inning.
The Indians mustered ten hits to go along with their nine runs, including a grand slam home run off the bat of Matt LaPorta in the huge Tribe seventh.
Cleveland gets right back into action tomorrow afternoon at 3:05 p.m. against the Colorado Rockies.
