Indians Break Through Against And Chase Beckett, Josh Tomlin Twirling A Gem Heading To The Seventh

Josh Tomlin is picking up where Justin Masterson left off on Sunday. Tomlin, after allowing a run in the second, has mowed the Boston Red Sox down thereafter and the Indians have taken advantage with two in the fourth and a run in the fifth and lead 3-1 going to the seventh inning.

In the Tribe fourth, Travis Hafner doubled with one out and scored on a single to center from Orlando Cabrera. Cabrera advanced to second on the throw to the plate and scored himself with two outs on a base hit from Jack Hannahan, giving Cleveland a 2-1 lead.

The Indians added another run in the fifth when Asdrubal Cabrera doubled leading off, moved to third on a ground out from Shin-Soo Choo and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Carlos Santana.

Josh Tomlin has limited his pitch count enough to work at least into the seventh, getting 18 outs on only 76 pitches, while Josh Beckett, the Boston starter, left after five having thrown 106 pitches. Matt Albers came on for the Red Sox in the sixth.
