Indians Injuries Mounting With Loss Of Shin-Soo Choo

The worst fears of the Cleveland Indians were realized on Friday night when X-rays confirmed that outfielder Shin-Soo Choo would be lost for an undetermined amount of time with a broken left thumb, the result of a Jonathon Sanchez fastball in the 4th inning of the Tribe's 4-3 loss to the San Francisco Giants.

Travis Buck, who was sent back to Columbis after Wednesday's win over the Colorado Rockies, was called back to the big-league club to replace Choo on the 25-man roster.

Choo left the game on Friday immediately after being hit, his batting glove needing to be cut off his hand due to the swelling.  No timetable was given for Choo, though anytime a batter has to deal with injuries around his hands there is cause for concern.

Choo had been struggling most of the season from the plate, batting just .244 with 5 home runs and 28 RBIs.  He's a weapon on defense, however, using his arm to keep base runners in check, something the Indians will be without while Choo is out.
