The Cleveland Indians have brought Jason Kipnis up from Columbus and optioned Luis Valbuena to AAA in a move discussed at length in this article from Cleveland.com and Paul Hoynes.
↵Kipnis was hitting .279 and had driven in 55 runs with 12 homers, 15 doubles and nine triples for the Clippers. Kipnis led the International League in triples and was second in runs with 64.
↵Also, the Indians designated third basemanJared Goedert for assignment.
↵Kipnis was originally a center fielder at Arizona State. It will be interesting to see if they try to work him back into the outfield on top of the stress of beginning a major league career at any position.
