Columbus Clippers Repeat As Governors' Cup Champions

It was odd, seeing the Columbus Clippers facing the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the International League's Governor's Cup Finals, as I have done some blogging for a Lehigh Valley paper.

Congratulations are in order for the Indians' AAA club after they won their second straight championship of the IL in four games with a 4-1 victory on Friday night.

Paolo Espino was the winning pitcher in the clincher, and Chen-Chang Lee recorded the final six outs to set off an on-field celebration in Allentown, Pennsylvania's Coca-Cola Park.

The Clippers will now advance to the Triple-A national championship game against Omaha, with the action taking place Tuesday night in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A single game for a title -- kind of reminds one of the Super Bowl.
