Shin-Soo Choo Indians nominee for Hank Aaron Award

Shin-Soo Choo is one of the finalists for the 2012 Hank Aaron Award.

Jesse Johnson-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Shin-Soo Choo is one of the finalists for Major League Baseball's Hank Aaron Award, which is awarded to the top hitter in each league.

Fans can vote for the award at Major League Baseball's official website. Hall of Famers Hank Aaron, Tony Gwynn, Paul Molitor and Joe Morgan will also determine this year's Hank Aaron Award recipient.

Choo hit .283/.373/.441 in 155 games for the Cleveland Indians in 2012. Choo belted 16 home runs and added 43 doubles, while stealing 21 bases.

Despite Choo's solid season, Paul Hoynes points out that Choo did not lead the Indians in average, home runs or RBI this season.

Jose Bautista has won the award in each of the last two seasons. Bautista's injury woes this season cost him a chance at winning the award again, as Edwin Encarnacion is Toronto's candidate this season.

Miguel Cabrera, who won the first triple crown since 1967, and Mike Trout figure to be the top vote-getters in the American League.
