Cleveland Indians outfield Shelley Duncan and catcher Luke Carlin have both elected to become free agents after being assigned to the Indians Triple-A affiliate Columbus Clippers.

Shelley Duncan has been with Cleveland since 2010. This most recent season he appeared in 81 games with the Indians and hit .203 with 11 home runs and 31 RBIs playing in the outfield and as the designated hitter. Duncan, a second round pick of the New York Yankees in 2001, made his MLB debut with the Yankees in 2007.

Luke Carlin has been with the Indians since coming over in a trade in mid-2010, but has spent most of his career in the minors. Carlin was called up this season when Carlos Santana was placed on the disabled list and appeared in four games for the Indians. In those four games, Carlin went 3-for-14 with one RBI. Carlin made his MLB debut with the San Diego Padres in 2008.
