MLB free agency: Shane Victorino drawing interest from Indians

Cleveland may be targeting the the ex-Dodger as it looks to upgrade its offense.

Free agent outfielder Shane Victorino is expected to draw interest from a number of teams this offseason, and the Cleveland Indians are in that group, according to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick (via Waiting For Next Year). Per Crasnick, other clubs include the Cincinnati Reds, Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers.

Victorino, who will turn 32 on Nov. 30, is coming off a down year in 2012. Through 101 games with the Philadelphia Phillies, he posted a .724 OPS before being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the trade deadline. In 53 games in LA, Victornio hit just .245/.316/.351 with two homers, two triples and 12 doubles. He stole 15 bases, and was caught twice.

Moving forward, Victorino will have to beat back the idea that he's merely a platoon player. Last season, the switch hitter posted a .906 OPS against lefties but just a .627 OPS against righties.

In eight years in Philadelphia, Victorino hit .279/.345/.439 with 88 homers and 179 steals.
