The Cleveland Indians have made contract offers to free agents Nick Swisher and Kevin Youkilis and are awaiting responses, according to Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
ESPN's Buster Olney is reporting that Youkilis is deciding between playing for the Indians and former manager Terry Francona for two years and $18 million or playing for the Yankees on a one-year, $12 million contract.
Olney is also reporting that Cleveland is in the best position to sign Swisher.
Indians general manager Chris Antonetti told Hoynes that he was "pretty busy" at the baseball winter meetings and is hoping to "build on the foundation" that was laid at the meetings and "get some things pushed across the finish line."
Youkilis hit .235 with 19 home runs and 60 RBIs in 122 games for the Red Sox and White Sox last season. Swisher hit .272 with 24 home runs and 93 RBIs in 148 games for the Yankees.
