Bobby Abreu Trade To Cleveland Indians Reportedly 'Dead Or On Hold'

Jon Heyman from CBS was reporting on Thursday that it looked very likely that the Cleveland Indians would be trading Trevor Crowe to the Los Angeles Angels in return for veteran hitter Bobby Abreu. Apparently something hit a snag in the pipeline, specifically the part of the deal involving Crowe according to Heyman, and the trade appears to have either been called off or put on hold come Friday.

Mike DiGiovanna of the LA Times reported early on Friday that Abreu was batting in the Angels' lineup for their game against the Diamondbacks in spring training.

Bobby Abreu trade appears to be dead or on hold. Abreu is in the lineup and batting sixth today against .

An Abreu trade being called off leaves the Indians open and still looking for another hitter, of the outfield variety or another sort, on the trading market before spring training ends with the regular season just around the corner. Of course, it could just be a fluke in the deal that the two teams were trying to work out and Abreu may end up an Indian yet.
