Indians Vs. Athletics Score Update: Cleveland Leads 2-1 After Six Innings In Oakland

The Cleveland Indians have already shot out to an impressive 6-1 start away from home this season, and are up to more of the same on Saturday with a 2-1 lead over the Oakland Athletics after six innings at the Coliseum.

Cleveland batters have recorded nine hits against Oakland starter Brandon McCarthy, with eight of those being singles. A Travis Hafner ground out with the bases loaded broke the scoring in the very first inning to put the Indians ahead 1-0, and a Jason Kipnis RBI single in the sixth expanded the lead.

Starter Jeanmar Gomez went 5.1 strong innings for the Tribe, giving up just one run on four hits with three strikeouts. Gomez lowered his season ERA to 1.93 with his performance, but will have to wait to hear word back from Major League Baseball after appealing his recent suspension.

A Yoenis Cespedes sacrifice fly to center in the sixth plated Oakland's lone run of the evening, as the Athletics have managed just five hits as a team. With Gomez left to watch the remainder of the contest from the dugout, it will be up to Cleveland's shaky bullpen to lock down an Indians victory.
