The most successful away team in Major League Baseball to open the 2012 season, the Cleveland Indians trail 3-1 to Oakland in the two teams' series finale on Sunday.
Travis Hafner continued his surge from the plate with an RBI double to open the scoring in the first inning, but the A's answered back with an RBI double from the bat of Cliff Pennington to knot the score at 1-1. A two-run homer from Seth Smith, his first of the season, broke the tie in the fourth inning to give Oakland a 3-1 advantage.
Cleveland starter Justin Masterson has not been at his best on this day by any stretch, and has walked five batters with three earned runs after four innings. Masterson has also given up three stolen bases to Athletics baserunners, and does not appear to be in line for a deep outing having already tossed 89 pitches.
