The Cleveland Indians take a two-game lead in the AL Central into their four-game series with the Boston Red Sox.
The Indians, 17-13, are coming off a 2-2 split with the Chicago White Sox. Prior to that the Tribe had won each of their two series this month, but the split in Chicago was still enough to maintain their edge in the Central.
Cleveland will send Derek Lowe to the hill Thursday. Lowe, who came over from Atlanta in the offseason, has started 2012 hot. Through six starts he is 4-1 with a 2.39 ERA.
He does have an incredible low K/9 rate -- just 10 strikeouts in 37.2 innings -- but it's hard to argue with the results thus far. Save an April 18 outing against the Mariners, Lowe has pitched at least 6.0 innings and given up no more than three runs this season.
The Sox will counter with Josh Beckett, who is 2-3 with a 4.45 ERA.
Boston, 12-18, is currently sitting in last place in the AL East.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 ET.
