The Cleveland Indians are set to begin a three-game set against the New York Yankees on Monday, and have made a roster move in advance of said series. It was already announced that left-handed pitcher Scott Barnes was recalled from Triple-A Columbus, but there was speculation on who would be sent down.
Now, that speculation can be put to rest as the Indians have announced that it will be right-handed pitcher Jeanmar Gomez on Twitter:
#Indians have recalled LHP Scott Barnes from AAA Columbus.RHP Jeanmar Gomez optioned to Columbus. Barnes available to pitch tonight.

As noted, Barnes will be available in relief for game one on Monday. Cleveland was looking for another left-handed arm, and wasn't necessarily unhappy with Gomez. The early speculation was that Nick Hagadone would be the guy being sent down. Still, Gomez was struggling in recent appearances and is 1-5 over his last six starts.
Barnes brings the Indians up to three in regards to left-handed relievers - a must at this point, given the lefty hitters on the Yankees roster. Zach McAllister is likely to take Gomez's spot in the rotation when he joins the team from Columbus after this series.
