Damon's wife gave birth to twins on Friday night and was officially placed on paternity leave on Saturday, which gives a player three days off to be with his family.
LaPorta arrives from Columbus where he has split time playing left field and first base, hitting .307 with 8 doubles, 14 home runs and 32 RBI in 46 games.
