The Cleveland Indians and Ubaldo Jimenez are hoping to salvage some respectability on their current west coast swing as they begin a three-game series vs. the Seattle Mariners on Monday night.
Jimenez (9-12, 5.62 ERA) struggled in his last start, allowing eight runs on eight hits and two walks in four innings as the Indians fell to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. It was a step back for the erratic righty, who struck out ten batters in six innings vs. the Boston Red Sox on Aug. 9.
Meanwhile, the Indians have lost five straight games, and are now 1-5 on the road trip. They still have time to right the ship at least a little bit, but they'll have to pitch a whole lot better than they did vs. the Oakland Athletics, who averaged seven runs per game while sweeping the Indians over the weekend. Here are the lineups:
Indians:
1. Jason Kipnis 2B
2. Asdrubal Cabrera SS
3. Shin-Soo Choo RF
4. Carlos Santana C
5. Michael Brantley CF
6. Shelley Duncan DH

8. Ezequiel Carrera LF
9. Jason Donald 3B

4. John Jaso DH

Seattle will send veteran righty Kevin Millwood (4-10, 4.28 ERA) to the mound. First pitch is slated for 9:10 p.m. CT.
