Rangers starter Ryan Dempster gave up only a single run in six innings on Friday night.

The Texas Rangers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on Friday night over the Cleveland Indians, and they wouldn't really look back from there. Those three runs came on three RBI singles in the first three innings off Indians starter Ubaldo Jimenez, who would allow four earned runs in the game over the course of 5.2 innings while striking out seven batters.

The Indians narrowed the score to 3-1 on a Carlos Santana RBI single in the fourth inning, but the Rangers put up single runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to push the score to 5-1. Indians first baseman Casey Kotchman would homer in the ninth off Texas reliever Koji Uehara to bring the score to 5-3, but Rangers closer Joe Nathan slammed the door shut after that for his 28th save of the season.

The two teams will continue their weekend series on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. ET.
