Indians Vs. Rangers: Cleveland Loses Again To Begin Series With Texas

The Texas Rangers jumped out to an early lead and then held on to beat the visiting Cleveland Indians, 6-4 in the opening game of a three-game series between the teams.

The Rangers tagged Cleveland starter Ubaldo Jimenez (9-16) with four runs in the second inning and eventually the loss, although Jimenez didn't get much help in the field. Two errors in the second inning helped the Texas rally as Matt Young and Ian Kinsler both knocked in runs.

The Indians tried to rally and scored two in the eighth inning after Casey Kotchman singled home a run but that would be as close as Cleveland would come to catching the AL West leaders. Left-hander Matt Harrison (16-9) earned the win for Texas after giving up five hits and two runs in five and two-thirds innings on the mound.

The two teams resume their series on Wednesday at 8:05 p.m. ET as the Indians will try to snap their current four-game losing streak.
