Indians vs. Royals preview: Sandy Alomar Jr. looks to improve to 2-0 as manager

After getting a win Friday in Sandy Alomar Jr.'s managerial debut for the Cleveland Indians, the Tribe looks to make it two straight wins for Alomar and four straight overall as they face the Kansas City Royals at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.

The Indians are tied with the Minnesota Twins for last place in the AL Central, but have a chance to gain ground this weekend. The Kansas City Royals have lost six straight while the Twins are playing the first-place Detroit Tigers.

Jeanmar Gomez (5-8, 5.54 ERA) starts for the Indians. Gomez has lost four of his last five decisions, and he has struggled in three appearances (two starts) against the Royals this season. He's 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA in those games.

Jake Odorizzi (0-1, 5.06 ERA) starts for the Royals. Odorizzi is a rookie making his second career start. His first start was also against Cleveland, a 15-4 Indians win on Sept. 23. Odorizzi, however, didn't give up the bulk of those runs. He surrendered just three earned runs in 5.1 innings.
