Blue Jackets Vs. Sabres NHL Preview: Columbus Tries To Get Back To Winning Ways

For more on the Columbus Blue Jackets, go to The Cannon.

The Columbus Blue Jackets continue to be describes as "resurgent," and the term is very apt. Resurgent, in this case, simply means being competitive and perhaps winning a game here and there. Though they did lose their last outing, a 2-1 affair in the shootout to the New Jersey Devils, the Blue Jackets have a chance at winning three of their last four for the first time this season. Before the loss to the Devils, Columbus had strung together wins against the tough Predators and the Flames.

When they take on the Buffalo Sabres on Friday, it will be the second of two meetings between the two teams. Buffalo took the first outing, a 4-2 win in Buffalo on Oct. 27, though Columbus felt robbed after Jhonas Enroth stopped 41 shots in the game. Buffalo suffered a tough loss in their last outing, a 4-3 shootout to the Boston Bruins. That loss moved Boston to 10 straight wins.

The Blue Jackets better hope this game doesn't go to the shootout, as they've moved to 0-3 in the shootout with their loss on Wednesday. It was a tough loss, in which Martin Brodeur was unstoppable, stopping 35 shots, almost half of which (16) came in the third period alone. Columbus needs to shake this one off and get back to their recent winning ways.

The game is set for 7:00 p.m. eastern on Friday.
