The Columbus Blue Jackets have recently experienced a good period of resurgence, but they haven't been able to string together that long winning streak like they need to. They did win two games on Nov. 19 and Nov. 21, but since then have been back-and-forth between losing and winning. They did pick up a win in their last outing, a 4-3 shootout victory over the Calgary Flames on Thursday, stopping a potential three-game skid after losses to Vancouver and St. Louis.
Now, on Friday, they'll head to Edmonton to take on the Oilers, who are on a three-game losing skid. Their last outing was a 3-2 shootout loss to the Minnesota Wild, and before that, they dropped a 2-1 game in regulation to the Nashville Predators. After a very strong October, the Oilers really struggled in November, but are in a much better place than they were last season. They've got three more wins now than they did last season at this point.
Both teams are doing well after very poor seasons, though the Blue Jackets have only picked up the pace recently. This is a game between two teams who believe they up-and-coming and as such, this will be a very hard-fought game. This is the first of four meetings between the two teams this season, and the series was split at two games apiece last season.
The game is set for 9:30 p.m. eastern on Friday.
