Blue Jackets Vs. Capitals Final Score: Columbus Squanders Early Lead, Lose 4-2

After a scoreless first period, the Columbus Blue Jackets took a commanding 2-0 lead in the second, with goals from John Moore and Samuel Pahlsson, but the Washington Capitals doubled up on that number in the third, wresting the lead back with a hugely dominating third period and ultimately, a 4-2 victory. Alex Ovechkin got the scoring started for Washignton early in the third, and added the team's insurance goal halfway through the period on the power play. Alexander Semin had the tying goal, while Dennis Wideman notched the game-winner less than a minute later.

The Blue Jackets had some key lapses defensively after the first period, and goalie Steve Mason wilted after a strong first. He stopped just 22 of the 26 shots his way, allowing all four goals. The Blue Jackets out-shot the Capitals by a wide margin and were still unable to pick up the win, peppering Tomas Vokoun with 37 shots, 35 of which were stopped for a .946 save percentage.

Columbus will look to get back to their winning ways and a void a losing skid when they take on the San Jose Sharks as part of a four-game road trip on Thursday.
