The Nashville Predators completed the season series sweep over the NHL-worst Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night behind goaltender Pekke Rinne's gem of a shutout. Columbus actually played pretty well, outshooting the Predators 38-25, but could not get anything by Rinne.
There was no scoring until half way through the second period when Martin Erat scored his 11th of the season for the Predators. A little over two minutes later, Mike Fisher added a power play goal to make it 2-0.
That's all Rinne would need as he stopped 20 shots up to that point and another 18 in the third before the Preds added an empty-netter with 32 seconds remaining. The 3-0 win was Rinne's 25th of the season and his sixth straight.
Columbus returns to the ice on Saturday to do battle against the red hot Red Wings.
