Monday was a forgettable night for the Columbus Blue Jackets as they headed to Michigan to meet the Detroit Red Wings and were slaughtered to the tune of 7-2. The Wings had four goals only ten minutes into the match and never looked back, clinching a playoff berth for themselves in style.
Columbus won't have a much easier time on Wednesday as the Wings continue to get more players back from injury. They already boasted Nicklas Lidstrom and Pavel Datsyuk in Monday's game and could get Johan Franzen back Wednesday. Columbus do have the advantage of being the home team this time around, Detroit have been mediocre at best on the road so far in 2012 and in the month of March in particular. Their six road game losing streak is the longest for themselves in a while, and the Wings haven't lost seven in a row on the road since 1986.
After two straight games where he was forced to leave the ice due to bad play, Steve Mason might have to sit out the game in favor of backup goaltender Allen York.
The game will be at Nationwide Arena at 7:30 p.m. ET.
