Not much went right for the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2011-12 season. After finishing in dead last in addition to failing to earn the number one overall selection in June's entry draft, Columbus hockey fans haven't had much to be excited about lately.
On Friday afternoon, they finally received some good news when the Blue Jackets and NHL unveiled the official logo for the 2013 NHL All-Star Game which will be hosted at the Nationwide Arena in downtown Columbus on January 26, 2013.
Here it is:
The logo was designed by Frederick & Froberg Design and NHL Creative Services. It was inspired by the Columbus state flag as well as the team's close association with Ohio's Civil War history.
"We are thrilled to bring the NHL All-Star Game to Columbus -- home of a passionate fan base, committed ownership, a determined organization and a world-class facility in Nationwide Arena," NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said. "The city and the Blue Jackets were outstanding hosts during the 2007 NHL Draft, and we look forward to the warm welcome they will provide our players, the media, our business partners and guests."
